William Benjamin Woolf Obituary

William Benjamin Woolf, 96 died March 13, 2024, at his home in Evanston. Bill was born April 2, 1927, in Greeley Colorado to Caroline and Joseph Woolf. After graduating high school early, Bill enlisted in the Navy and was stationed in the Philippines during World War II. After military service, Bill graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in mechanical engineering.  Bill moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1950 where he met and married his beloved wife Francesa of 57 years. Bill was an artist, inventor, and businessman. He had several art shows across the country. He will be remembered for his unique take on life, as evidenced by his artwork.


Bill is survived by his children Steven and Letha Woolf, Silver City NM, Wendy Woolf and Pat Athey, Indian AK, and Dave and Debbi Woolf, Palatine IL; his sisters-in-law Jane Favuzza-Sneider, Westport, CT, and Hannah Huse, Boulder CO, and seven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. No memorial was held. In his memory, donations may be made to The Nature Conservancy.
