Walter Joseph Foran, Jr.

Walter Joseph Foran, Jr., age 78, of Chicago, Illinois, passed peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, June 5, 2019. Born August 18, 1940, in Chicago's Bridgeport neighborhood, he was the only son of the late Walter Joseph Foran, Sr. and Mary Virginia "Ginny" (Loehrer) Foran. The oldest of three children, he graduated from Chicago's Leo Catholic High School in 1958.

Walter was a highly respected architect and principal & co-owner of Gelick Foran, Associates, Ltd. He earned a degree in Architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology and a master's in business administration from DePaul University. During his storied career,he worked on hundreds of projects but most notably helped in the design of Evanston, Illinois' One Rotary Center and Orrington Plaza, and Chicago's Lake Point Tower.

Walter is survived by his sisters Joan (Foran) Dolan & Maureen (Foran) Fruhwirth, son Ryan Foran, daughter Carolyn (Foran) Bryant, grandchildren Mason Foran, Tyler Foran and Evan Foran along with many loving nieces, nephews and relatives.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, June 165, 2019 at Hyatt House Hotel in Evanston, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Misericordia in support of Walter's niece, Lynn Fruhwirth.
