Susan Elaine LaMonica

Mrs. Susan Elaine LaMonica (née Jung), of Chicago, IL, suddenly passed away at Albany Care of Evanston, IL on Sunday, March 22, 2020 at the age of 61.

Susan was born to parents Joseph Otto and Elaine Frances Jung (née Bobzin) on Tueasday February 10, 1959 in Chicago, IL. She grew up as the third of eight children and graduated from Hubbard High School in 1978. On October 20, 1984, she married her childhood friend, Joseph John LaMonica of Chicago, IL. Together, they had one child in 1987, Kevin Joseph LaMonica. They were married until 1991 and remained in close contact until her death.

Susan then met Michael DiGioia of Chicago, IL  in 1991. They were in a committed long term relationship until her death. Susan worked in the food service industry until her retirement in March, 2019. She enjoyed the casino, bingo, soap operas and word search puzzles. She found most joy in being in the company of her friends, family and especially her son. She was a loving mother, sister, friend and will be missed by all.

Susan is survived by her son, Kevin (Dorothy) Joseph LaMonica of Hickory Hills, IL; Her partner Michael DiGioia of Joliet, IL, her siblings, Francine Vengeas (née Jung), Marliyn Bensenfelder (née Jung), Thomas Jung, Richard Jung, David Jung and Joseph Jung; and one granddaughter, Kassandra Josephine LaMonica. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Elanie; her brother, Michael Jung and her brother in law, Rick Besenfelder. 

Susan was cremated on March 24th and a celebration of life ceremony will be completed in the near future when gatherings of 10 or more are allowed. The family will provide an update when information is available.
