Steven Douglas Meeters

It’s with a heavy heart full of sadness that I say Steven Douglas Meeters, 70 of Chicago, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday August 13, 2021. He was born Tuesday November 7, 1950 in Chicago, the son of John Raymond Meeters and Emily Mary Meeters, nee Klimek. Marine Corps veteran, serving during the Vietnam era. Loving husband of Eva Mae Meeters, nee Dawson. Loving father of Steven(Barbara) Meeters, Jr. of West Chicago, Marc(Karen) Meeters of Chicago, Amanda Meeters of Chicago and Samantha Meeters of Chicago. Dear grandfather of Cassondra & Donavan; Marc, Aaliyah & Sophia; and Johnny & Damien. Brother of Mary Kozlowski of Las Vegas NV. Preceded in death by two brothers, the late John and the late Paul.

All who knew Steven, or even briefly met him, knew that he always tried to make things fun and brighten their day.  He would often tell his favorite Dad Jokes to lighten the mood and say “It’s an oldie but a goodie”. He liked to play Gift pranks and was always the life of the party by bringing joy to all. He welcomed everyone he met by making them feel as if they’ve been part of our family.

Steven was a Proud Marine and loved to share his courageous stories, love and knowledge of his service for our country to everyone.  He had a passion for Fishing and in his early years would watch the show Bass Masters. He would go out fishing often with his buddies and took his children with him to teach us how.  His Love for photography led to him often being photographer for family events and has thousands of prints of lasting memories.

Steven lived a humble life for himself and had a generous Heart. You can see the true Joy and Happiness in his smile when people opened his gifts and laughed at his jokes.

He loved his children and grandchildren so incredibly much and spoiled his Grandchildren that he Loved with all his Heart. You can see how proud he was of his children and grandchildren as he showed us through his glowing smile and laughter.

He went out of his way to make sure everyone had what they needed and more.

He will be missed,

He is loved,

He will be in our hearts forever.
