Richard “Rick” Olson passed away on June 17, 2025. He was 63 years old. Born in Evanston, Rick was a boy scout, an avid fisher, and a lover of nature. He was known to take his family on camping trips or to Sox games, and he loved to teach his children everything he knew. He was always quick with a joke or a story, and was often the first one called for a flat tire or a broken bicycle.
Rick loved to tinker and learn, and this extended into his career, where he worked on computers, printers, and ID card makers when those technologies were only just starting to develop.
From gardening to caring for pets, coaching, teaching, and always showing up, Rick is remembered for being a nurturer who always made sure his family knew just how much they were loved, both in word and deed.
He is survived by his mother, Joan Olson, two sisters Linda Olson and Wendy Olson, four children, Andrew Neff (Rochelle Neff), Liza Olson, CJ Olson (Cristina Olson), and Sean Olson, and three grandchildren, Aubrey Neff, Ava Neff, and Annabelle Neff.
