Randall R. Denning, age 82, of Chicago, formerly of Neopit Wisconsin, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at his home in Chicago. Randall was born on January 4, 1937, in Bemidji, Minnesota to the late Ralph and Letitia (Dailey) Denning. Randall was the grandson of the last hereditary Chief of the White Earth Ojibwa. He graduated from Shawano High School with the Class of 1955 and was actively involved in assisting with the planning of reunions. Randall then went on to proudly serve in the United States Air Force in Guam. He worked as a “Vertical Transportation Specialist” with the International Union of Elevator Constructors Local #2. Randall was the family historian. He loved to travel all over the world and learning foreign languages. He was an avid photographer. Randall also enjoyed fine wines and world class cuisine.
Randall is survived by: his children, Natalie (Mike Caldwell, Sr.) Denning of Keshena and Linda Lee Peters of Keshena; his grandchildren, Maurissa, Talenna, Woesha, Karly, Christopher, and Kayla; eight great-grandchildren; his siblings, Crystal Caldwell, Eugene (Margaret) Caldwell, and Charlotte Caldwell; brother-in-law, Charles (Carolyn) Shegonee; and sister-in-law, Cathy Caldwell. He is further survived by special friends Margie and Sandy Hawk and family, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Neoma Jean (Shegonee) Denning; his parents, Ralph Denning and Letitia (Dailey) Denning Caldwell; step-father, James Caldwell; his brothers, Leslie “Hutchie” Caldwell, Gordon Paige Denning, and Alan Caldwell; and his sisters, Sharilynne Denning, Lorelei Beauprey, Mary Louise Bear, Eileen Boyd, Stella Smith, Margaret “Noni” Young, and Lillian Angel.
A funeral service will be held for Randall at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano Wisconsin with Pastor John Anderson officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at the funeral home from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm and again on Thursday from 9:00 am until the time of service. Burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano Wisconsin.
