Patricia Fisher Kline

April 22, 1923 – January 12, 2025

   Patricia Fisher Kline passed away peacefully at Mather Lifeways in Evanston, Illinois on January 12, 2025, at age 101.

   “Pat” was born in Evanston in 1923.  She graduated from Evanston Township High School and Michigan State University.  She married her high school sweetheart, Donald Logan Kline in 1946 after he returned from serving overseas in World War II. They met while both playing leads in the ETHS High School musical, HMS Pinafore.

   Pat and Don lived in Evanston and raised their 4 children there.

   Most every summer for decades, Pat and Don and family went to their beloved cabin on Crane Lake, Minnesota to fish, read, swim, play bridge, chop wood, and relax.

  A focal point of Pat’s life was her church, the First United Methodist Church in Evanston. Pat was baptized there, married there, and sang in the choir. Her powerful soprano voice was an inspiration to all who heard her.

Pat served as a music teacher in Evanston School District 65 for many years.  Her creativity, dedication and passion for music inspired countless children.

   While raising her own family, Pat and Don opened their home to beloved family members and many of their children’s friends who were having trouble at home with their own families. With no judgement, a family meal, and open-hearted acceptance, the Kline household was a haven for many.

   Also, Pat and Don opened their home and hosted exchange student Lucas Ebia, from Nigeria while he went to Northwestern Medical School. Pat’s capacity for love was felt far beyond the confines of her own family and spread into the community and well beyond.

   Pat was adored, not only by her children, but by her nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren, who called her “Gigi”. All have visited her over the years from all over the country as a testament to the spirit of family she instilled in everyone. Her beloved husband, Donald L. Kline died in 2015.

   Pat is survived by her children Kenneth Kline of Davenport, IA; Logan Kline of Boulder, CO; Barbara Kline Seamon of Leverett, MA, and Kathleen Kline Moore of McLean, VA, 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. A Memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Evanston on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 1:00 PM. Donations in Pat’s name can be made to First United Methodist Church of Evanston, IL.
