Monica Pecuch passed away peacefully on June 1, 2020 at her home in Lincolnwood Illinois.
Monica was born in Tresckow, Pennsylvania, on February 28, 1941, and spent part of her childhood there. She moved with her parents to Manville, New Jersey, where Monica completed high school. She went on to earn her RN diploma from Somerset (NJ) Hospital School of Nursing, where she worked following her graduation. Monica then moved to New York City where she worked in public health for several years while completing her baccalaureate degree in nursing at New York University. After several years, she moved to Columbus, Ohio to complete a masters degree in nursing with a major in public health at Ohio state University. Upon graduation in 1973, she relocated to Chicago for her job as Assistant Professor of Nursing at Loyola University, where she taught for several years before accepting the position of Department Head of In-Service Education at Victory Hospital in Waukegan. Following that, she worked for the Illinois State Nurses Association where she was responsible for Continuing Medical Education certification for nurses. During this time, she earned her doctorate in education from Nova University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. From that position, Monica moved on to work at Cigna, where she worked in case management until her retirement in 1999. After retiring, Monica was a volunteer teacher for religious education classes at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Glenview IL for many years.
During her 50 years in the Chicago area, Monica loved and enjoyed her family and friends. Many celebrations and get-together were held with these friends and family over the years. She traveled to many places, both foreign and in the United States. Monica had a particularly close relationship with her mother, Anna, and they spent time with each other whenever possible, although they lived in different states. Monica always made time to keep in touch with family and friends.
