Marjorie Anne Hillocks

Marjorie Anne Hillocks, 67 of Evanston, passed away Sunday June 21, 2026 at her home. She was born Sunday May 10, 1959 in Edinburgh Scotland. Marjorie was the beloved daughter of Jo Hillocks, nee Bruce. and the late George Hillocks, Jr; loving sister of Mac (Sandi) Hillocks; Doting aunt of her three nephews Geoffrey (Erin) Hillocks, Cameron (Lauren) Hillocks, and Dylan Hillocks.  Proud great aunt of CJ Hillocks.  

Marjie was a theatre major at Northwestern University and began a drama school in the late 80’s, teaching young students what she loved doing the most.  She enjoyed it so much, that she went back to school to get her masters in education.

Marjie was a longtime teacher in the Evanston school system.  After receiving her masters from the University of Chicago, she started teaching 4th grade at the Washington School.  From there, she taught for many years at the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools.  She moved back to the Evanston schools and taught drama at the Lincoln school until she retired in 2024.

Marjie will be remembered for the love the shared with her 500 students each year.  She created an inclusive environment in her classrooms and her drama club.  Every year the drama club wrote and presented a production of “Fractured Fairy Tales”.  She also took her drama classes to visit SeeSaw Theatre at Northwestern.

Marjie retired in 2024 and enjoyed crafting in her free time.
