Kenneth Oketh Johnson Obituary
Kenneth Oketh Johnson (Ken, Kenne) was born on June 23, 1959, to Willie Lee Johnson and Fannie Mae Johnson, the third of their beloved children. From an early age, he and his siblings embraced the spiritual teachings instilled in their home, a foundation that remained with him throughout his life.
On February 16, 2025, at the age of 65, Kenneth departed this life in Illinois. He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Lee; his mother, Fannie Mae; his sister, Tangela Denise; his brothers, Marion Leon and Steven Darnell; and his stepdaughter, Charlene Frances Rainey Williams. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 34 years, Annjeanette; his brothers, Stanley Earl and Terrence Christopher; his sisters, Genuine Outa, Jacqui Dovetta, and Morgan Taylor; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Kenneth served with honor in the United States Army for over nine years, excelling in various roles, including as a Legal Specialist. His dedication earned him numerous commendations, including the Good Conduct Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon with Numeral 1, NCO Professional Development Ribbon with Numeral 1, and the Army Achievement Medal.
After transitioning to civilian life, Kenneth built a successful 30-year career as an automotive claims adjuster while also furthering his education, earning an Associate Degree from Columbia College in 2014. His passion for cars extended beyond work—he found joy in sharing his knowledge, whether teaching Annjeanette to drive in their first year of marriage or generously donating three cars to charity.
Outside of work, Kenneth was an avid roller skater, frequenting rinks across Illinois several times a week. It was on the skating rink floor—quite literally—that he met Annjeanette, as she struggled to stand before a couples-only session. Three months later, in 1991, they were married, beginning a beautiful journey together.
Kenneth’s competitive spirit continued to shine in all areas of life. A self-taught chef at home, he took great pride in his culinary skills, always perfecting new dishes and sharing his love through food. His warmth, humor, and unwavering determination will forever be remembered by those who loved him.
Kenneth’s love, laughter, and legacy will remain in our hearts forever.
