Juanita Camacho, 92 of Chicago peacefuly passed away on April 22nd, 2026. She is preceded by her parents Juan and Maria; and her siblings Pedro, Catalino, Carmen, Mary, Andrea, Francisca (Panchi), Mariana, and Julia. She is survived by her siblings Aida and Vicente; her four sons Andre (Leida), Eduardo (Annie), Wilfredo, and Jimmy (Margo); her grandchildren Marisol, Yessenia (Eduardo), Eduardo Jr. (Lee) , Danielle, Enrique, Abraham (Katie), Esteban (Amanda), Marisa (Mitchell), Olivia, Juanita Dora; and her great grandchildren Destiny, Freddy, Nikolas, Marianna, Wyatt, Ezra, Elias, Reyna, Eliel, Bryce, Mila Grace, Jovani, and Leonardo.

Juanita was born in Puerto Rico and at 17 moved to Chicago. She started out from humble beginnings and she would go on to build a family and community. At 40 years old, her dreams became as big as her tenacious personality and would pursue her G.E.D, Bachleor's, and then Master's Degree. Her passion for educating herself moved her to become a teacher, and to give the gift of knowledge for future generations. She took up dancing and was never defined by the term "its too late". After retirement, she would still uphold her position as a pillar in the community by continuously supporting her community, creating relationships with her neighbors, and helping whomever she could. Juanita cherished every minute she lived and has left behind a trail of love. She will be deeply missed and she is immortalized by her impact on her family, friends, and community.

We will be celebrating her life at Barr Funeral Home (6222 N Broadway, Chicago) on Sunday April, 26th, 2026 at 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Her burial will be at Graceland Cemetery (4001 N Clark Street) on Tuesday April 28th, 2026 at 12:00 PM, interment in Grave 68, Pathway 1, Section E & F.  In lieu of sending flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Alzheimer's Association through Juanita's tribute page.
