James “Jay” Augustus Alden, age 66, died July 22, 2025, at Resurrection Hospital in Chicago, IL.  He was born on May 29, 1959, in Chicago, IL.

 Jay grew up in Evanston and graduated from ETHS class of 1977.  He lived in Wisconsin and California many years before moving back to Evanston.  Jay had his own business as an electrician and handyman. He had a strong focus on spiritual transformation beginning in his 30s.  He was energetic and upbeat, loving people, nature, camping, music and sports.  He played guitar and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers.

 Jay had been battling cancer for less than two years, sometimes gaining the upper hand.  Sadly, he ultimately lost his battle.

 He is preceded in death by his parents Wm. Tracy Alden, Jr. and Mary B. Alden.  Jay is survived by his previous wife of 14 years and present friend Wendy Best, loving brothers Wm. Tracy Alden III (Jean) and Steven M. Alden, nephews and niece Benjamin, Claire and Samuel, cousins, and girlfriend Jane Florian.  He will be missed by his many close and supportive friends.

 Plans include a Celebration of Life with a date yet to be set.
