Jack Nudelman Obituary

Jack Nudelman, of Lincolnwood, Illinois, passed away in his home on 6/13/2025. Jack was born in Wirth, Germany in 1948 to Morris and Toby, Holocaust survivors who soon immigrated to the United States in search of a new life. He grew up in Chicago's Albany Park neighborhood with his younger sister Helen, attending attended Hibbard Grammar School and Von Steuben High School. Many of his peers would turn out to be lifelong friends. After graduating high school, he attended Wright Junior College and Southern Illinois University, obtaining a degree in Psychology. Jack served in the Army Reserves during the Vietnam War as a Clerk Typist and Smoke Generator Operator. Throughout his life he always stood up for what he believed to be right.

After working in professions as diverse as social work and driving a cab, in the mid 1970s Jack got a job working with computers. He was among the first generation to learn this new technology and found he had a passion for the work. He started out as a night shift Computer Operator before being promoted to a Programmer/Analyst, Senior Programmer/Analyst, and Vice President. Jack worked at IBM; First National Bank; and Information Resources, Inc. before going out on his own as a computer consultant. Throughout his life he saw computers go from the size of an entire room to desktop-size and, finally, to pocket-size.

In the 1980s, Jack met his future wife Terri through mutual friends. Jack and Terri married in 1989 and had two kids, Laura and Ben. Jack and Terri were inseparable for more than 36 years.

Jack's passions included sports. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bulls and collected memorabilia during their success in the 1990s. He was also a lifelong fan of the Cubs; as he child he sometimes played hooky in order to not miss an important game. As an adult he coached a Lincolnwood youth baseball team. He enjoyed exercising by going on the treadmill; he followed his treadmill regimen with dedication. For entertainment, Jack enjoyed trivia game shows, classic television and film including The Rifleman, and popular music from the '50s and '60s. Jack also enjoyed more recent movies like Top Gun, The Shawshank Redemption, Les Misérables, and the John Wick series. For decades Jack went out to eat with his friends on Friday nights.

Everyone will remember Jack for his unbending loyalty to his friends and family and, also, for his sometimes peculiar sense of humor. He was a liberal user of proverbs and had one for every occasion. Jack supported everyone he loved every day of his life.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents Morris and Toby. He is survived by his wife, Terri; his sister, Helen; his daughter, Laura; and his son, Ben.

A private service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Niles Township Food Pantry.
