Cecilia Ebierin Kpekpe Pedro

Cecilia Kpekpe Pedro, 69 of Evanston, passed away Friday September 15, 2023 at her home. She was born August 25, 1957 on Lagos Island at Island Maternity to Robert and Abigail Kpekpe. She was the eldest of six siblings, which consist of five girls and one boy.

She attended Marywood Academy. In 1974, she met her husband, Babalola Pedro and the two eventually left for America on August 9, 1976. She attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University, Alva OK, and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Finance and Accounting in 1979.

After college, Cecilia gave birth to her first born, Bukola Omolola Pedro, and exactly nine years after arriving in America she gave birth to Oluwafemi Pedro on August 9th, 1985.

She worked as an Associate Accountant at Dr. Scholl Footwear, also at Sunstone Jewelry, and eventually went to Nursing School at Aurora University, graduating with a Bachelors in Nursing in 1996. She began working at various facilities throughout the Chicagoland Area, such as Illinois Masonic, Chalet, and Carlton at the Lake before retiring.

Cecilia leaves behind her husband Babalola Pedro, daughter Bukola Pedro, two grandchildren, five siblings, and plenty of family and friends.

Visitation 9:00 am Friday September 29, 2023 until time of funeral mass, 11:00am, at St Teresa of Avila Church, 1037 West Armitage Avenue, Chicago IL 60614.
