Carzell Eason, Sr. was the fourth born child of ten children. Born in Benton Harbor, Michigan to Robert Lee Eason and Mary Edwards Eason. He was born on November 8th 1948 and departed this life on Monday May 23, 2022.
Carzell was baptized at First Christian Baptist Church under Pastor Eugene Roberson, however Second Baptist is his home church.
Carzell attended Evanston public schools and graduated from Evanston Township High School in 1967. Shortly after, he attended college in Fresno, California. During this period he found his love for music and playing the guitar.
Carzell returned to Evanston in 1970, working briefly with his father and brothers in construction, roofing and painting. He obtained all the skills he needed during this time to prepare him for his job at the Winnetka Public Library, which would begin in 1988 until his retirement in 2014.
Carzell, coming from a large family, wanted to be a father and served as a father and a grandfather figure to many. Three of these special relationships include Chishi Person, Dena Davis, and Dewitt West Sayles. On October 25th 1986 Carzell Eason Jr was born to Carzell and his life partner Chiquita. His son became his sole motivation to become the best man and father he could be.
Over the past five years, Carzell has battled cancer, beating all the odds and staying devoted to his family. His fight ended and he made his transition with his devoted son and life partner Chiquita by his side. Carzell will be deeply missed.
Carzell is survived by his life partner Chiquita, his son Carzell Jr, six siblings: William Eason, Dale Eason, Darrnal Eason, Yusif Kareem, Denice Eason, and Marland Eason; one grandchild, Zaharah, and a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends
