Brandon Mark Johnson, born on July 30th, 1982, died unexpectedly from cardiac arrest on February 2nd, 2022, at age 39. Born in Danville, Virginia, he grew up in Hampton, Virginia, graduating from Kecoughtan High School in 2000. His best friends from high school laughed together, got in trouble together, and remained close even as life took them in different directions.
Following school, Brandon worked at Hackney Millworks in Williamsburg before joining Feld Entertainment to work with Disney on Ice. For over 17 years, he traveled the world working in a variety of positions including Tour Manager for Feld Consumer Products. While at Feld, he was known for his ability to inspire his staff, creating strong teams that managed Feld’s highest grossing shows. His unmatched wit, sarcasm, and laughter made life on the road brighter, and his colleagues will miss his brilliance and friendship. (They may even miss buying him endless smokes and cold-brews.)
Brandon’s laugh, smile, quick wit, generous and open heart coupled with his brilliant mind and intuitive sense of people were a rare combination. He was equally gifted with a pool cue, a deck of cards, a table saw, a staff team, an operations budget, and the fine art of friendship. He lived life on his own terms and we were all better for it. He was a loving son, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle, and friend. We will dearly miss the light and joy he brought into our lives with his ever-present mischievous smile and hilarious commentary on the world.
Brandon is survived by his parents, Kathy Kruschwitz (Al) and Tony Johnson, two brothers Patrick (Caitlin) and Ashley, his brother-from-another-mother Joey Scalzi (Keely), uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews, and a host of friends - all of whom plan to “see him down the road.” A celebration of his life will be held on February 12th at 3pm in Stevenson Hall at Williamsburg Presbyterian Church, Williamsburg, VA. It will be a time of storytelling and laughter - a celebration of the way he lived his life. Masks are required.
