Benjamin Joseph Bodelson, 67, passed away on December 28, 2025, from kidney failure. 

 

Ben was born on August 5, 1958, in Fargo, North Dakota, to Joan and Bodie Bodelson. 

 

Ben exhibited musical gifts as a child when he was very young and studied classical piano for several years, he was a musical director of a college theater program at the age of 16. He was the original pianist for the play “Rent” in Chicago. 

 

Ben loved fashion and design. He graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and pursued design for several years following graduation. He designed at one point for the Lincoln Center. 

 

He moved to Chicago following New York and proved himself a brilliant marketer. After working in various capacities, he chose to enter real estate where he became recognized for his abilities and was very successful. Ben was known for his professionalism, his style, and his amazing sense of humor. His warmth and creativity was apparent to all who met him. 

 

Ben is survived by his brothers, Jess (Stacy), and Eric, his sister‘s Melissa and Mary (Arlin) Eggleston, and several nieces and nephews. In addition, Ben has dear friends who were especially loving and supportive during the several months he was bedridden prior to his passing. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to Melissa, Chris and Marianne.
