Stephen Harold Hays

Beloved son, brother, uncle and friend. Stephen died quietly in his sleep on Sunday May 14 in Evanston, Illinois. Stephens capacity for love was his greatest quality. He spent a lifetime championing the downtrodden and the forgotten and never hesitated to give all that he had to anyone in need and to show his love to friends and family alike. Even if that was a kind word and an attentive ear. His ability to put anyone at ease with his unorthodox and self effacing humor was legendary. His quick wit could get a smile and laugh and would put anyone at ease. He spent most of his professional life as a radiologist technician but his greatest love was music. A self taught musician, Stephen could read music and play the piano but his talent and true love was the blues harmonica! He played professionally but truth be told, he played when ever possible for anyone that was lucky enough to listen. Stephen will be greatly missed by all that he touched. He is survived by his parents George and Constance. His brothers George and Paul and their partners, Amy and Jessica. His former wife, Daphne Young, Aunt Judy, Jan and Uncle Frank, beloved nieces and nephews. Nick, Katy, Michael, Julia, Daniel and Finley. 

Assuredly. Stephen will now be devoting all of his time making Megan, John, Tony, Aunt Toni, Uncle Ray and Tom laugh until they pee

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, May 24, 2019 at St. Mary Church, 1012 Lake Street, Evanston IL 60201

Family will receive friends following the service at the home of George & Constance Hays, 1426 Chicago Avenue, Apt 6-S, Evanston IL 60201.
