Jana Measells

Jana Measells, teacher and tutor, and master of emotional consistency with rescued animals, 48 of Evanston, passed away suddenly at her home on Wednesday July 3, 2019.  She had, however, been seriously ill for a year and half. She was born April 29, 1971 in Charlotte North Carolina, the daughter of Sherod Lee Measells and Myra E. Measells. She leaves behind her life partner and husband, Joseph W. Lapsley, and her two beloved dogs, Kima and Lucy; she leaves as well her mother Myra, brother Brad and his wife Tara and Jana’s niece Olivia, of Manchester, TN., and Jana’s sister Lydia of Seattle, WA.

A celebration of Jana’s life will take place with a series of events: 

Friday, July 19, 2019 -- at the upstairs Firehouse Grill, 750 Chicago Avenue in Evanston, from 7:30pm, a celebratory evening about Jana, her loves, her friends, her music, passions, with food, drink, etc.

Saturday, June 20, 2019  -- Memorial at the Ethical Humanist Society, 7574 Lincoln Avenue in Skokie, meeting at 1:30 pm with celebration of life ceremony at 2:00pm, and Saturday evening 6:30 pm, a dog friendly gathering at Pooch Park, 3220 Oakton St, Skokie, IL 60076.
